Boys & Girls Club of America

            Mission :

To provide a quality developmental program which empowers metro Atlanta youth, especially those from disadvantaged circumstances, to become productive adults.

Types of volunteering:

Volunteers are needed to serve as mentors, tutors, coaches, art and computer teachers and more.

MENTORING TRACK
Read*Write*Now
In many cases pairing young people who are having difficulty learning to read with a mentor for an hour a week will significantly increase their reading ability. Consider making an eight-week commitment to a Boys & Girls Club member through this program. Instructional material full of helpful hints and fun activities are provided.

Community Basketball League
Consider joining the Leadership Council basketball team. Players meet once a month and challenge a Boys & Girls Club basketball team to a friendly game at the Club's indoor facilities. It is a great way to keep in shape and meet exceptional young people who appreciate the challenge.

Youth of the Year Coach
Youth of the Year are stellar members in their Clubs and communities. They compete for metro Atlanta Youth of the Year honors based on their activities through family, community, school and Club involvement. Additional criteria include essay writing, poise and public speaking.

Youth of the Year candidates prepare vigorously for their competitive speech and personal interview. They need your help to refine their public speaking and interviewing skills. Help the Youth of the Year in your neighborhood prepare for the judging process and celebratory banquet.

SPECIAL EVENT VOLUNTEERS
Like most professionals, your time may be limited and regular volunteer commitments may not be possible. Consider volunteering on a case-by-case basis at fund-raising or special program events. Check our e-mail updates for the volunteer opportunity that most appeals to you.
