·         Shootin’ the Hooch
One of metro Atlantans' favorite activities, "Shootin' the 'Hooch" is a fun-filled day of rafting down the Chattahoochee River . The ride is mostly relaxing, with a few exciting areas of whitewater. Rafting is available at the Johnson Ferry, Powers Island and Paces Mill Units of the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area. ·        Hiking Kennesaw Mountain

Hike to the top of Kennesaw Mountain on a clear day, and you'll get one of the best views in metro-Atlanta - check out the Atlanta skyline, the natural wonder of Stone Mountain and even Tennessee . Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park offers 16 miles of hiking trails that go through the entire park, including Cheatham Hill and Kolb Farm battlefields. Horseback riding is also available. History buffs can take in a movie about Kennesaw Mountain 's role in the Civil War and tour the museum. The park is free to visitors. ·        Silver Comet Trail
The Silver Comet Trail is open to bicyclists, walkers, joggers, rollerbladers and every non-motorized mode of transportation. Situated along nearly 13 miles of abandoned railroad tracks in south Cobb County , the multi-use Silver Comet Trail is dotted with pocket parks, gorgeous scenery and four trailheads with ample parking. ·         Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area
The Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area offers adventure-seekers activities such as fishing, hiking, biking, picnicking, rafting and boating. Visitors will also enjoy the gorgeous scenery, animal habitats and historic sites. The Cobb County sections of the park include the Sope Creek, Johnson Ferry North and South and Powers Island units. ·         Lake Acworth / Lake Allatoona
Enjoy a day at the beach on Lake Acworth . Located on Logan Road , Cauble Park in Acworth provides swimming and beach access, paddleboat rentals and a volleyball net. Call 770-917-1234 or visit www.acworth.org/tourism/outdoors.html  for more information.

§         Lake Allatoona provides hunting, fishing, water sports and camping opportunities. Two Army Corps of Engineers day-use parks are in Cobb County at Old Dallas Road and Proctor Park . These offer a variety of recreation facilities including ball fields, fishing jetties, picnic tables, swimming beaches, horseshoe pits, volleyball areas and picnic pavilions for large or small group picnics. In addition to the Cobb locations, the Corps of Engineers has fourteen other parks on the lake. ·         Sope Creek
The Sope Creek unit of the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area offers hiking and biking trails plus a shaded picnic area. A medium hike takes you to the Marietta Manufacturing Mill ruins. The Chattahoochee Nature Center offers a unique learning experience to all who visit. Walks in the wetlands, guided canoe and pontoon floats down the river and wildlife sightings all contribute to the enchantment of the naturally beautiful setting.
